Sunday morning we all woke up early enough to make it to the 8 a.m. service. That is saying a lot in a house with only two bathrooms. Papa Tim, Jon, Jess, Jameson, and the Webbs had to leave after lunch. Sad. The rest of us played in the pond some more. Seriously, we do that a lot in GV. Jack learned how to play badminton with Colt, Uncle Dave and G. Evelyn played with some tadpoles while Katie and Jack wanted no part of those slimy things. Another wonderful day with family.

This year for our summer vacation, we went up to Grass Valley and Pittsburg to see family for a week. It was so much fun being with all the cousins. We drove up late Thursday night after an afternoon of cleaning our condo. I worked on our annual Year In Review for 2008 all night Wednesday and put some finishing touches on it Thursday. Jamie worked on our pregnancy announcement sign all night Wednesday. Needless to say, we arrived in Grass Valley very tired but happy to be up there.

One of our favorite things to do in GV during the summer is swim in the pond. We usually jump in right after lunch and before dinner. Lifejackets are a must.On Friday we pretty much played in the pond and hung out all day. Papa Tim made some yummy spare ribs for dinner and we all sat around the t.v. and watched the Year In Review.

Saturday was our big day to share our news. Jamie hung the sign over the balcony so you could see it when you jumped into the pond. It was perfect. Jack got Gramma G to take him out there and I stood on the deck videotaping them. She read the sign and had zero reaction. Apparently, she thought I had stayed up the night before and tallied the score of some of our pond races. We boys can be very competitive. Then Uncle Dave saw the sign. Then I think Angie saw it. There was some major confusion. Everyone was looking at Jamie and trying to put it together. Finally someone blurted out “you’re pregnant?!?” That is when Gwen got it. It was really funny to see it. I can’t wait to watch the video. Grandma Mary always has a big group of people over to her place on the 4th. We pretty much had to keep an eye on all the little ones running around the pond, but it seemed that everyone enjoyed themselves. There was lots of slipping and sliding, food prep, matching patriotic outfits, and smiles. When it finally got dark, the young people went to watch fireworks from afar off. No music, no boom. If not for the company and the camera fun, it would have been lame.
